Business Development

The Business Development team provides leadership and guidance in managing existing business relationships, developing new business relationships, external brand management, and trademark management and licensing. Specifically, we focus on the following functional areas.

Business Development

  • Generate new business opportunities
  • Maintain and maximize existing university business relationships
  • Manage university-wide business contracts
  • Actively integrate the brand licensing strategy into business development and university goals

External Brand Management

  • Establish and maintain consistency of the brand
  • Ensure consistency between the brand and overall university goals
  • Maximize and leverage the brand
  • Continuously promote the brand and its benefits

Trademark Management

  • Develop unified management efforts with both internal colleagues and external licensees
  • Oversee efforts for trademark registration and renewal through the U.S.Patent & Trademark Office
  • Oversee a strong and consistent trademark protection program
  • Develop and maintain appropriate legal representation with the Office of General Counsel and necessary outside counsel firms

Trademark Licensing

  • Seek additional profitable and innovative license partners
  • Maintain non-exclusive license agreements
  • Maintain pro-active licensing of products (ensure products are desirable and current)
  • Generate royalty income
  • Allocate royalty income equitably
