Office of the President

Dr. Elsa A. Murano

Howdy! Welcome to Aggieland. I hope our site gives you a better understanding of the academic excellence that has made Texas A&M one of the nation's largest and most prestigious undergraduate and graduate research universities, as well as the Aggie Family's unique spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose.

My primary goal since taking office in January 2008 is to continue our progress toward our Vision 2020 effort to attain consensus top-ten status among public universities by the year 2020.

We are making substantial progress toward this goal. We have:

  • added nearly 450 faculty since 2003—an effort that is unprecedented in American higher education;
  • improved graduate and undergraduate programs;
  • increased diversity throughout the University community, including the diversity of backgrounds and experiences of our students, faculty and staff;
  • initiated $580 million in new construction; and
  • worked to increase the number of partnerships and the amount of sustainable resources made available from the State of Texas and other sources.

This is an exciting era of growth and development for the Aggie Family. Thank you for visiting.
